Here is some exciting news for all of you crackberry addicts that have facebook. Earlier today RIM (Research In Motion) announced a new application that will give users access to a mobile version of the Facebook social networking web site. The application takes advantage of RIM's push-based email systems to send messages and notifications instantly to users' BlackBerries. Icons on the phone will also allow users to alter their status, add friends, upload pictures or send messages. The application is a free download and will be available later today.

This is good news for most everyone in the world from the ages of 18-35. I've had a Blackberry for ages now and I've grown to hate the third party downloads for internet usage. Gone are the days of operamini, and hello RIM Facebook!

Sprint will begin offering the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 next month. The Pearl 8130 is an updated version of the original Pearl and includes EV-DO data and GPS. Sprint's version of the Pearl 8130 will have access to Sprint's PowerVision services, such as the Music Store, TV and navigation. Pricing will be announced when it goes on sale.

Now to me personally whether this is an "updated" version of the pearl or not, its a waste of time on Sprint's part. The phone has been out with other carriers way to long as it is, and its popularity is slowly but surely dieing out and moving on to the new Blackberry phones like the Curve. Also Sprint hasn't really done anything special to update the phone. I would have liked to see more expandable memory, a better camera, and things of that nature before I'm concerend with GPS.
